Undercover Underman Tape Pants

Size 1 Black tape-detail trousers from Undercover's Spring/Summer 2011 “Underman” collection. Narrow bands run across the slim legs in angled lines, creating a segmented surface that recalls protective clothing and a superhero costume. Jun Takahashi built the season around Underman, a fictional hero charged with recovering souls stolen by evil forces. The collection was presented through staged photographs that placed the clothes inside that imagined world. Here, the story comes through in the construction rather than a large character graphic. The repeated bands give a familiar pair of black trousers a more armoured, almost anatomical appearance.
